Pay it forward opportunity: Treasurer

Your Role
To serve as our treasurer, providing oversight of our monthly and annual financial statements. You will work collaboratively with the GM and bookkeeper to review the statements and make any adjustments necessary before presenting them at the monthly board meeting. March 31st is our fiscal year end and shortly thereafter we will begin working with the auditor to consolidate all materials required with the goal of having the audit completed by early august. The audited statement are then presented at the AGM in September.

Your Training and Experience
Your experience includes designation of CA, CGA, etc. with excellent skills in Simply Accounting and Quick Books. You have experience in for profit, not for profit and charitable accounting practices. Maybe you even have experience in community economic development organizations. You understand real estate and business financing and development.

Here are the basics:

Position: Social Finance OfficerLocation: Saint John, NB (with regional travel)
Contract: 2 years, renewable
Salary: $60,000 to $75,000 + benefits

About the Role: The Social Finance Officer plays a critical role in moving capital into projects. You will evaluate loan applications, conduct financial and risk analysis, support borrowers through the lending process, and prepare recommendations for decision-making. This role sits at the intersection of finance, housing development, and community impact.

Key Responsibilities:
Loan Evaluation & Due Diligence
• Guide applicants through eligibility, documentation, and loan requirements
• Review and assess loan applications for affordable housing and social enterprises
• Analyze financial statements, projections, business plans, and supporting materials
• Review legal and regulatory documentation for compliance
• Prepare clear loan recommendations for CEO and Loan Committee approvalPortfolio Management & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records in loan software and CRM systems
• Track pipeline activity, borrower performance, and repayment status
• Present monthly pipeline and portfolio updates to the Loan Committee
• Contribute to impact measurement and reporting

Market Development & Planning
• Stay current on housing policy, financing tools, and government programs
• Represent KSI and promote loan products at regional events
• Support capital planning, fund growth, and financial modelling initiatives
• Participate in annual strategic planningQualifications
• Experience or strong understanding of housing development and construction financing
• Degree in finance, economics, planning, or related field — or equivalent experience
• Ability to analyze financial statements, projections, and business plans
• Strong Excel skills; comfort with loan management systems and CRMs
• Ability to work in both official languages (English/French preferred)
• Collaborative, organized, and mission-driven
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regionally
